Hello! My name is Lauren Bovie, and I am an LPC-A, supervised by Jennifer Hughes, LPC-S License #72051. I believe that every individual has the ability to make choices that create their best and healthiest life. I am passionate about helping individuals find tools and strategies to identify areas of change or ways to change their environment that propel them toward the healthy life they desire.
I completed my bachelor's in Psychology at the University of Texas in Austin and my master's of counseling and development at Lamar University. Before becoming a counselor, I worked for 10 years in Special Education as a Special Education Teacher and as a Behavior Specialist working with Special Populations.
I have vast experience creating plans for behavior modification, navigating the Special Education system in Texas, coaching parents on structures in the home setting, and creating seamless plans between home and school to help give students consistency and support to promote change.
I have extensive experience working with individuals with autism and their families, as well as creating resources to support skills such as executive functioning skills, social skills, and increased emotional intelligence and communication.
My personal counseling philosophy tends to gravitate toward cognitive approaches such as CBT but also brings in aspects of behavioral training and behavioral modification. I believe that all behavior communicates a need. Looking beyond our choices to our inner needs and thoughts helps us better understand our choices and even make different choices that better serve us and align more closely with our core values.
I am also trained in EMDR and use it as another tool to analyze our inner thoughts and resolve conflict that creates maladaptive beliefs.
When not at work, I enjoy spending time with my fur babies, two adorable pit bulls, trying new restaurants with my husband, or singing with my band. I would love to partner with you to help you meet your goals.
